History

Pragati Automation Pvt. Ltd, (earlier known as Pragati Engineering Works) was established in 1977 by Mr A.V. Sathe and Mr P.D. Kulkarni, with the objective of manufacturing world class machine tools in India.

What began as a modest enterprise, has grown in leaps and bounds over the decades, to emerge as a force to reckon with in the Indian machine tool landscape, with a workforce of 300 and manufacturing facilities spread over four units.

Pragati has also made a foray into China, setting up a world class manufacturing plant in Jiaxing, near Shanghai , a feat that few other Indian companies have achieved.

Pragati is now leading manufacturer of Tool Turrets and ATCs ( Automatic tool changers )

Milestones

  • 1977 – Founded as Pragati Engineering Works, manufacturers of special purpose machines.

  • 1977 - Began manufacture of Quick Index Tool Posts

  • 1978 -Commenced manufacturing of Copy Milling Valves

  • 1980 - Started manufacturing of Power Chucking Cylinders

  • 1982 - Began manufacturing of Electric Upsetting Machines

  • 1982 - Introduced manufacturing of Copy Turning Attachments

  • 1985 - Commenced production of Unidirectional Tool Turrets

  • 1990 - Manufacturing of Bidirectional turrets

  • 1996 - Started production of Automantic Tool Changers. Various lines of ATCs were introduced

  • 2002 – Incorporated as Pragati Automation Private Limited

  • 2003-- Expansion Of Unit-I In Bangalore

  • 2006 - Pragati Unit-II in Bangalore became Operational

  • 2007 - Started in Kolhapur, Maharashtra

  • 2007 - Started production of SQTPs

  • 2012 - Pragati Unit-IV in China

  • 2013 - Began manufacturing Hydraulic Turrets

  • 2013 - Introduced indigenous Servo Turrets

  • 2013- Commenced production of Single Motor Turrets
